The guitar is something i'd really like to try and practise. First i'd have to buy one, ..or lessons. My mate can play smoke on the water, satisfaction by the rolling stones, greenday holiday and seven nation army.

I dislike how some people think only heavy metal guitarists are "true" guitarists. I play guitar, and I don't play heavy metal. I may not be very good, but I only play for fun anyway. I'm not looking to make a career out of it.

They're called strings, and it affects all the strings. You use it to change the pitch of notes. Hit a note and push down on it, and the pitch goes lower, pull up, it goes higher. You can use it to cause vibrations too, for example, hit a harmonic on the 5th fret, G string and push down on the whammy bar while shaking it. You can do endless things with a whammy bar. Here are a few examples of me using my whammy bar, and I do the harmonic technique:

i kind of agree and disagree with you in the same time,

yes i also write my own music, not in a band, but i just make up stuff here and now, and there is no talent in playing other people's songs, but hey if you put your mind to it, it is a form of 'learning' how to play guitar, playing other songs, then understanding the notes and fretboard, playing around with the song, making your own versions, modifying the song...

you know what i mean :)

Unfortunately, my guitar strings just snapped :(!!! And like 2 of them hit my arm, and it kind of 'hurts', this is what i get for trying to play Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns&Roses when im still a virgin damnit >_> =P

I have a Fender Squire, getting my hands on an Ibanez and supposedly another Fender (my friends getting me one, dont know what model) so ye i'll have to check.

well you know i think there's a difference beetween playing other poeple stuff anda playing good stuff.

I explain, exemple playing green day is so easy and not really constructive to learn guitar but playing A7X or Children of Bodom or wathever is really good to learn new things cause that's not just chords etc... They have melodic symphonies and nice verse intros etc it show how to play some hard things.Personnally i just play hard things ( for me) cause that's hard but i practice and practice and practice and finnally when i do it easily i'm so proud cause i play something much hard than green day ( no offense )

I hope you understand what i mean lol :)
