Colors On The Forums

Well I have asked this question before, but i still didnt understand the answer someone game me. When ever I want to use colors on the forums. I click the color drop down menu and select a color.

Take blue for instints. I select it and it says

Then i type my message. And nothing works. How do I use colors.?

Can someone explain it to me in good detail and or form.
