I haven't researched either of them, but Sony is a good name for CD/DVD writers, whereas I haven't heard of NEC before.

I like the memorex 5pack. you can get them REALLY cheap at newegg.com. I think its like $10 for a pack of 5 which is redic if you ask me. I bought them locally at a office depot and it was $30 bucks...

Moral of the story? Look on newegg.com.

I wouldn't get the Sony most of the stuff that they make is overpriced. I would get the NEC with a Sony you are only paying for the name and the quality isnt worth what you are paying. I would recommend for DVD burners, Toshiba, Samsung or Plextor. Also look for what speed the burner speed is when you burn with a dual layer disc the fastest out at this time is 5x.

hm..for starters NEC was very popular when they introduced there Dual layer because it was one of the first ones :D

They both do the same job but u hav to look at the DVDrw speeds most of them are 16x but to see which one better check the normal CDrw speeds :D

Mines around 52x :D and 16x dual layer DVDwrite speeds :D go for about that range

Go for the '-' to use in the xbox and only burn at x4. You made the right choice with the NEC I've had them since they first came out and had no probs :)
