virtual memory is not RAM. But yes your pc needs another stick of ram and I suggest you increase your page file to at least 1gb if you have the diskspace.

You can increase your "virtual ram" to try and fix this.

Go to control pannel - Performance and Maintenace - System - Advanced - Settings (top one next to performance) - Advanced tab - Click change at the bottom - Increase the custom size (I've got both of them set to 1000 (1gb) and then press set.

    Give that a try.

Great advice dja. I'm glad someone here knows what they were talking about. :D Well, .DeFuZioN was also correct, but not to specific about how to do that.

Also, it is better if you have two hard drives to set the page file on the opposite one that the operating system is installed. ;)

Oh, and that 1gb pagefile only applies to 256 mb ram. It is best at 4X the amount of ram in your computer. If you have 512, go with 2 Gb pagefile instead.

if you go get the 1 gig of RAM get another 512 (assuming u allready have 1 512) it works better and faster than the one gig stick

1 gb is better (if you have the space)

    and 512 is cheaper.

Inside most computers, there are 2 slots for ram. 2 X 512 can run better then 1gb, as it shares the load between them. But if you have 1gb stick, it is easier to upgrade and add more ram.

E.g If you have 2 x 512 and buy another 1gb stick you would have to take out on of the 512's to fit it so you'd have 1.5gb ram

If you had a gb stick and added another, there would be a free slot for it so you'd have 2gb. You said you wanted to speed your computer up, ram would help, but its also wise to think about how your processor is affecting it. Whats your current processor / speed?

    Hope that helps you understand.

Oh yeh, did you try what i said?
