Okay, class, I'm here to tell you about grammar. Yes, the bane of all AIM speakers. <_< First off, your and you're: Your adj. The possessive form of you. 1. Used as a modifier before a noun: your boots; your accomplishments. 2. A person's; one's: The light switch is on your right. 3. Informal. Used with little or no sense of possession to indicate a type familiar to the listener: your basic three-story frame house. You're Contraction of you are. Example: Wow, you're getting pretty good at that. I believe this is your CD player... See the difference? I hope so. If not, PM me or something... Next, have and of. First of all, these get confused a lot because of the way some people talk. The dictionary definition for each is too long, but have can be found here, and of can be found here. You should know the difference. Examples of them in use: I have this pretty cool software that you should see. He thinks highly of her proposals; he'll speak of it later. See the difference? You should. So why do you go around saying "should of" instead of "should have," or "your really good" and "is this you're stuff?" Answer me that.... I'll put more up as I see the mistakes and want to clarify. I don't want this thread to be full of people saying "That's what the internet is like." No it isn't. This is to TELL you what I see and why I am unhappy about it, and to CORRECT you who are making the mistakes, and I don't want my thread to be closed on account of spam from you people who think you could get an extra post by stating the obvious but false.
I hope this helps some people, but most people here choose to type like they only have a 3rd grade education. Im one of the few who chooses to type at my grade level.
Yeah, I do the same, I hate typing in 'shorthand' or 'slang' because I've seen way too many people do it in real life at school, on mid-term essays and whatnot, I refuse to fall victim to this ignorrance.
Sometimes I begin to think that their brain died during 3rd grade, or else they wouldn't have as much of a problem with typing like a normal human. I understand if English isn't your native language, and this is aimed toward the people who have spoken English their whole lives and are legally allowed to be on forums (OVER 13 years of age).
I can honestly say that I use to speak 1337 and Instant Message languages. It was conpletely idiotic. I've strayed away from it started my halo site (dead now since I moved to graphics). I just like normal error free speech now.
There should be a sort of rehabilitation clinic online for those who refuse to correct themselves. That would be wierd. o.o

That's how I was too, glad I got away from that era of life @asian - Come to think of it, no, it isn't a word
I started posting on a forum that was full of elitists, and they almost SCREAMED to ban you if you didn't use correct grammar, or tried your hardest. Their elitism kinda rubbed off on me. I can't stand to read incorrect stuff unless it's on AIM, and even then I hate spelling mistakes and a lot of punctuation errors.
yea but some of us dont care since its not really hurting us lo dat why ppl speak slang i mean who cares if you do or not i got like staright A's so far so fck yea bo! ha, yea and this is a forum so ppl speak how they feel like and dont feel like getting criticized because dont forget we got 8hours everyday of that and another one is not helping us
