Find the cd rom brand and go to their site and download the drivers.

Try to check the back connections. It might be a bad Cd, they do go bad once in a while...

I'd try to restore to an earlier restore point when everything was working right before I did anything. Start >Programs> Accessories >System Restore. If your running XP. G/L

making sure the connections are tight doesn't do anything to your OS, you know...

can you find your Cd-rom in the Device Manager? If so, un-install it, restart, and let windows find it again.

you can just right click on the mycomputer icon go to properties and hardware from there click device manager if you see a small icon for cd or dvd then click it and press check hardware changed if you dont see it then, you can try this i had the same problem and it worked.

open your pc dissconnect the wire that is connected to the motheroard that is for the cd rom and plug it back in, this somehow detected it for me. :D hope it works
