Ok, this is freaking me out...

I have Fedora Code 4 on my secondary computer.

    The computer specs are:

    DELL Dimension L700CXE
    Pentium III 700mhz
    128mb ram
    10gb hdd

    onboard video... :P

Ok, I previously had Windows 2000 on here, and it sucked dic|<... I mean, really.. It was slow as heck, took two minutes to load up FireFox.... Even longer to open Lime...

So, yeah, it sucked alot.. Until I got my Fedora Code 4 disks from a friend. Wiped my computer clean after i backed up everything. Popped in the disk, ran the setup, did the required setup, and was on in less than an hour. Looked around at the new OS, set up my network, and other stuff.

This thing was faster than Windows, by far...

Then I saw that Firefox was on there, ok, opened it up, looks nice, but I had just gotten into Opera. Went to their site, downloaded Opera, installed it, reseted the computer, and there it was... Opera on Linux... Looks just like the Windows version. So I custimized it to my likes, and wanted to download some stuff, but saw that I needed Java, so I downloaded the big ~30mb file to load it....

On my other new computer running Windows XP, I get only about 30kb/s in downloads..

On Fedora, I get 40kb/s!!! I'm like 'YES!!' And it wasn't like that thing where you get 1mb/s+ downloads and it keeps falling, It actually kept it at a steady 40kb/s...

I knew Linux was better, just not THIS good... It downloads faster, it runs smoother, and bye bye blue screens possibly forever... On this computer, lol.

I still need Windows for gaming and school, so I have it on a different computer...

The reason I'm using my Linux comp is because my Windows one is broken. I broke the CPU fan on it that I accidentally stuck a expansion card in it when the fan was going. stupid me.... :( currently waiting for a replacement CPU fan, should get it in the next few days...

Have any of you had such a great experience with Linux as I have? Post here, I'd love to read what good things you found with Linux...

I've had linux before and one of the biggest points is that linux runs great on low resources, unlike windoze. I would use it but I don't feel like switching all the time.

I DLed fedora Core 3 with Redhat a while back, but wasn't horribly happy with it because it could not support my wireless router(netgear MA111 is the worst for linux apparently) I am considering putting ubuntu onto my computer on a second hardrive(which i have and is installed.) and I should be able to just plug the thing directly in because I will move the router and just go off of it.

I have Fedora Core 4 on my second hard drive, only thing is that I never use it. I've gotten my settings on Windows set perfectly to the point where I see no reason to switch for good.

I use a Linux shell replacer for windows. It uses less system resources than Explorer shell, and its sooooo much better. Yay blackbox!

I use BBLean 1.16b, the newest version of the blackbox clone for windows.

how it works: you use it instead of explorer.exe (the main thing of the Windows OS) and you use blackbox.exe instead. You can also use it over explorer, to test it out. It doesnt' delete anything. You can also use it with any windows games/apps/etc. and they'll work fine. Also, you can just chose to use exploer at any moment, if you need it for some reason. Also, check out http://skins.deviantart.com/themes/blackbox/ for some awesome skins and such.
