how do I find out if my computer is 64-bit compatible...I know it didnt come with Windows XP 64 Bit but I am still wondering if it is compatible...
You need to see what kind of processor you have in device manager, or system properties... then cross-reference it with the specs on the manufacturer's website.
I think that Intel's Extreme Edition processor is 64 bit and AMD's 64 and 64 x2 are the only the 64 processor's as of now.
nope, noway id buy a fricking expensive extreme edition mines 64bit, jsut a reg. p4 yea, check what 4nub1s said if u got a p4 571, 561, 551, 541, 531, 521 if its one of those models, you might have 64bit 670, 660, 650, 640, 630, for sure u got a 64bit if u got a p4, (not extreme) and its non of the above numbers, u got a 32bit
it needs to be 64 bit. it could be a 1.4 Ghz processor and still handl;e it if it has 64 bit support. you NEED 64 bit support. if you overclocked a 32 bit P4 to 10.000 Ghz it still wouldn't handle it. Just use one of the system checking utilities to see if it has support, most P4s don't though.
