Reg Fix

    ok my problem is that i was in the middle of coping some files onto my laptop and i was just grabing a few regitory files but i wasnt paying attention and i extracted all the regitory files from my computer onto my laptop and now my laptop wont start windows .. safe mode doesnt work . nothing works . is there a way of getting windows back without formating it and starting again .

    i really need some help here if you could help me on this it woul dbe much appreciated


    edit: when loading it stops and comes up with a blue screen for less then a second and then shuts down ...
    i found somthing on the micosoft site . but it tells me nothing at all

    That has got to be the funniest thing I've heard all week.

    I suggest reformatting, solves every problem most of the time, but someone else may think otherwise...

    yeah i know its funny .. i'm so pi**ed about it .though .. its a new computer so im thinking formating it might void warranty or somthing .. i might have to take it to where i bourght it but its the weekend and iw ant to use it .now .. lol

    Sounds like a reformat is an option... I would try using a boot disk first to load the os...then delete the files you transfered over. If you don't know which ones though... a reformat is your best bet.

    well, if he doesnt have the XP disk, he's damned to go to best buy or something...

    If you laptop is branded it should have come with a recovery disc. I suggest using it, it wont void your warranty.

    how exacly do you use this recovery disk .. it says its windows xp service pack 2 recovery disk .. but when you boot from it .. its just like the windows setup ... is it possiable to use it to re install windows

    the cd says ..
    OPERATING SYSTEM CD
    Microsoft windows xp professional service pack
    (contains software and drivers already installed. for software resinstallation and repair only)

    does this mean that you can format and put the operating system back on .

    use knoppix and see if u can get in and fix anything or at least get wat u need off of ur computer.

    It means when you stick it in it reverts your computer back to the way you got it with software, drivers and all.
