I think i have a virus and/or adware on my comp, because i constantly get IE popups and i never use IE, and I have strange things in my startup registry. If i try to change or delete anything, it changes back after reboot, and virus scanners pick up nothing. How can i get rid of this? I am currently alleviating the problem by shutting down the processes as soon as i can, but it's very annoying to do that every start up...

get microsofts anti-spyware from here and run it. It should help clean out some of those nasty litle things you cant find.

It's most probably a virus..hmm what virus scanners have you tried? McAFee is really good..but i'd also suggest removing IE completely because it is infected with lots of spyware these days. Are you saying when you end the procesesses in task manager and when you reboot they're there again? have you already searched for the name of the file on your computer then deleting it.

ok first thing find the virus files. look at the thing in the registry and see where the viruses are located. go to see if u can find it and delete it. then run a scan through ur registry and delete ne trace of it in the registry (use the find button). try booting in safe mode if u need to.

probably ad-ware, id say, run three or four scans...
    ad-ware
    spy bot s&d
hijackthis (only if your advanced and knowledgable on computers)
    another virus scan

what i would do though, is run each of them, then reboot, and run em again, see if anything got passed the first one, and if things STILL pop up, open your comp in safe mode, and then try the scans
