    Computing please...

As far as making a back-up... you could also host the files you wanna keep on a server like megaupload or something, and save a text file with all the links to a floppy disk or something... then download them all once you've reformatted. Which I would only do if you can't get rid of the virus by multiple methods such as an installed anti-virus, or a free online scan which sometimes works best btw.

    please

    CD's

thats not how u back up ur computer

waht u need is an external hard drive. They can get costly but they are really good in the long run. get a 150 gb hard drive. and then u can use it when ur hard drive gets filled up and you can do back-ups pieriodicly. so if something else happens you allready have it backed up.

also after u get rid of that virus you can create a miror of your comp for the times you get a really bad problem.

hope that helps. and thats what i do and it works great.

the only downfalll to this option is that it can be very costly up front but trust me its all worth it in the end.

i backup all my stuff onto dvd's and an external hard. i use my ipod like people suggested, i also hav a flash memory stick all are good. you should go with the method that works best for u, depnds how much data u hav to backup, if its like 5 or 6 gigs go with a dvd+r dl and u'll be fine they hold 8.5 gigs of stuff.

Yes, but if he is broke, then I would suggest a CD or DVD.

CD/DVD's are much cheaper than hard drives.

    Cd's can hold 700mb
DVD's hold 4.7gb or 7.4gb if you have double layer..
