IE is really annoying me. I just don't like it, is there any way to permanently remove it from my computer? I realize that if i need it again, i can re-download it, so it's not such a big deal...

It's impossible. It's tied in with Windows so tightly. What you can do tho, is stop it from accessing the internet. go to internet properties, go to connection, and set up a proxy, with '00000' and it cannot connect because it is looking for a proxy that isnt there..,.

Sorry but thats not true. You can actually delete it all together but i highly suggest you dont.
If you do your Windows has a much higher risk of Crashing, loosing info, slowing down, etc.
Also some things like Outlook may not work at all anymore.
Its just a bad idea, but if you really want to check Google. I found a few sites about it before but i decided not to delete it after i found out what harm it can do ;)

Would you have to mess with the registry to get it all?

If you want to remove it, go to control panel>add/remove programs>add/remove windows components, and uncheck IE and click next.

I dont suggest doing it, but it is possible.

^ That does not completly remove it. To completly remove it you need to do quite a few things as it is strung in Windows pretty tight.
And yes, you would need to edit the Registry in a few places i believe. Also yes, removing IE will remove the Windows Auto-Updates, and i dont think thats a very good idea.

like HydrogeN said you can easily remove it through ad remove programs in control panel, but its just as easy if not easier to delete any shortcuts that are annoynig you and make firefox or whatever your alternative browser is your default, IE will never bother you again.
