dunno if this is old news but its from Microsoft certified profesional magazine
its simple and easy basically wat you do is

. Right click on My Computer.

    2. Click Properties.

    3. Click the Advanced tab.

    4. In the Performance box click the settings button. A new window will open.

    5. Click the Advanced tab.

    6. In the Processor Scheduling box, click the Background Services radio button. And click Apply.

    7. Click Programs and click Apply.

reboot and you should notice a slight increase in performance of your PC. but the more GHZ you have the less you notice.

    enjoy
