i shouldn't think that a new hard drive should mess with download speeds, very strange, and chance we could get the make of your hard drive

I feel like picking on someone about grammer..heh..sry
Anyway, what browser are you using? And what kind of harddrive was it?

Is it possible you already have a virus :P

hm..lets see...you can always cycle your modem or router, not sure if that would help though...

maybe you got a poor model of harddrive or a busted one. Because harddrives are the slowest part of the pc.

Go and get microsoft's anitspyware..It's REALLY good and get like avg free edition if you dont want to pay the money for another program..Also, the cache and rpm's of your HD might be less of the one that you had previously..That makes a big difference.

    You got spyware protection too?
I'd reccomend Adaware or Spybot Search & Destroy
also Microsoft anti spyware is good..

You should compare the two HD's..if it changed after you switched the two then thats gotta be it..

Or maybe your ISP just sucks at the moment..

    check your internet contection speed...

and then also add more memory if you havnt...

i think that internet connection speed might affect the download thing the most though...

Have you ever thought your isp has limited your bandwith because you abused it?

i dont think your hard drive has anything to do with it unless it has a slow rpm because it could download stuff to your HD slower or your isp might be going slow its probably not your fault or your computers

if it's lower RPM then your old HD then it will slow it down if you put it as your main hardrive with windows and everything on it. if you add it as a slave and add page filing etc. to it then you should be significant'y faster, I am and I have that set-up.

I seriously doubt that the fault is coming from the HD but from the internet connetion ur using :D as suggested try the speed tests or maybe your downloading from different servers that hav low DL speeds? could be a possibility
