Bass is ownage bro I play so much ---- on mine Learn Higher Ground by Red Hot Chili peppers u will feel better about life
actually dude, I started playing bass before guitar. I was learning bass for like a month, then i decided to get into guitar cuz I wanted to learn all those crazy power chords and stuff. Some of the stuff you said is true, like its easy to learn bass and stuff, but dude, its just as easy to learn guitar in my opinion. Bass takes a lot of consistency and I think the only real tough part about bass is reading clef, but I dont think a lot of bands use bass clef anyways, tabs are twice as easy and efficient in my opinion, but i'm learning bass clef anyways. But dude, speakin of solos and stuff. Yur right about bass being a low tone in the background, but that's really only for hardcore heavy metal and death metal dude. I mean, 99.9 percent of the heavy metal and death metal bands out there sound like they dont even have a bass player behind all the drums and screaming and power chords. But there are a lot of bands that have awesome bass in them. Like a lot of bands use bass riffs at the begining of there songs to start it off in a cool way. A lot of my favorite songs are my favorites becuase of the awesome bass dude. LIKE GORRILAZ FOR INSTINCE. I mean, that just turns everything you said about bass right around on you dude, becuase the gorrillaz have an awesome bassist and you can REALLY hear it. I just dont think its fair that you are talking crap about bass not being able to be heard. You know why you cant hear it? Becuase the only music you listen to is hardcore heavy metal. I mean, I dont hate heavy metal, I love heavy metal and all that, but still, you gotta give credit to all those crazy ass bassists out there. You just havent heard them. [/b][/quote] Guitars not as easy as you actually think. Power chordsa are easy but once you either get into jazz or instramental metal, it gets hard.
I play bass. I am in a band called Fail Forward. I have a four string Squire P-Bass. I am currently in the market for a five string. I'm hoping to get a Dean edge or edgehammer. Oh and bass players are not "failed guitar players." I know more about guitars and music theory than most guitar players I know. I play bass, guitar, piano, trombone, baritone and trumpet. I think you're the miserable failure. And obviously you've never heard any jazz/funk bass. Those guys are killer. Just to name a few excelent bassists, Victor Wooten (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) Verdene White (Earth Wind and Fire) Traa (P.O.D.) Geddy Lee (Rush) John Penn (Los Lobotomys). Must I go on?
^^^TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!^^^ I have a freind who plays funk bass. He's crazey. Funk guitars kinda crap tho...
Funk guitar may be difficult, but it sonds nowhere as cool as funk bass. Who has ever heard of slap-guitar? Bwahaha!
I'm surprised that you said you couldn't hear bass in death metal. Ever listen to any? Bass is just about the biggest part of it in terms of instrumentation. In many songs, Bass starts it of and has a major part of it's implementation into the melody. Try adjusting the ttuner on a media player and seeing if it still sounds anywhere neer so balanced. Also, you have never heard bass used to subsitute a snare, the sheer amount of skill it takes to play 1/32th notes partially syncopated at odd intervals is surprising. Get out of high school band, the people there tend to be losers and they drag you down, I should know my parents were morons and made me take a few years of it. If you want to develop any talent, you have to learn on your own in many circumstances, being able to read from a staff is really only of teriary, maybe secondary importance at the most at times, traditional note reading is of primary importance in mostly piano and even then, many deviate from that. also it isn't hard to play bass guitar loudly, you just turn a dial up a bit.
I play some mostly its just jazz bass for me but I do play a lot of heavy metal since those are the two types of music I like. I also play accoustic guitar I don't know why every single thread has to turn into a flame people will always have different opinions and that means flames but its getting retarded. Just because you don't like something doesnt mean you have the right to insult its integrity because you have a most likely biased opinion over something.
hey all i have a bass guitar with a kickass amp its a peavey amp with a yamaha rbx170 These are NOT pictures from home these are off google lol The bass guitar i have a blue one just like that And the amp Damn straight its easy
No seriously dude...in most of it you just get these awesome drum intos with guitar then guitar verses and then guitar solos. You only hear the bass when everything else stops maybe like a little outro or something. And don't tell me to learn by myself because that's what I've done. I've only been playing for 3 years and my friend has been playing for about 8 years and i'm nearly better than him. (and no he's not a rubbish guitarist, he's amazing)
Talking about heavy metal and bass, the music style where there are the most powerful bass is metal! without the bass the music will sound very flat, even if is a drummer!! I have played bass for some time now, and if I should say it I am pretty good, I also play at my brothers guitar sometimes and I am also a master on guitar... It is nothing about that the bass is easy, to be honest I have more trouble with the bass then I have with the guitar, doe to rhythm. the guitar never uses any kind of rhythm, it just plays some power chords and add some hardcore noice. I don't need anyone to teach me how to play guitar, but I need one to teach me bass...!! And if you ppl can hear the bass in metal music then you are bad musicans or just don't understand music, or don't have a subwoofer...!!! I don't hate the guitar, but I hate guitarist who think they play the best instrument on earth, and that they rule over all instruments!
