I'd have to say my favorite books would be anything by Orson Scott Card. I've heard all 8 books in the Ender Series, and I'm almost done with the last book of the Homecoming series. I'd recommend Orson Scott Card for anyone who likes Science Fiction.

I have two favorite book series: The Belgariad, and Dragon Prince/Token (two different series with same storyline). My favorite in the Belgariad, is, of course, the last one, and in Dragon Prince/Token it's the first one. (Forgot their names -_-)

Greg Bear is a pretty good author, I like Ray Bradbury's short stories, Kurt Vonnegut is cool, I like reading pop culture books like "Fight Club" by palahunik.
