    hi.

i was using Ps today and when i added my render to my background it was luminosity...the render turned black and white. So i tried to find out what it was and couldnt...then i opened a new document and i saw that the setting was on greyscale i changed that to RGB colour and it was alright...but for some reason now it keeps turning back to greyscale...and even when i choose RGB colour then go to colourise my brushing and it doesnt change colour it stays the same. I go to image >mode and it says its RGB colour...but wont change colour...

does anyone know a way of fixing this?

Im not sure if I understood you correctly, but let me try.

In your New Document, you may have set your mode to RGB. But, the Render still remains Grayscale (or whatever) when you move it over to the Document. You must have the Render to be RGB, and the New Document, and then put the render on the document.
