Ok, I'm not planning on getting this at all, but I was just wondering if 1) Anyone on here actually uses it and 2) If it is anything better than Photoshop [I'm doubting it]

Open-source-addicts will go on-and-on about how it's better...

but no... PS has more/better features, period. And the PS interface is a lot better too.

PS also has waaaaaaay more support, plus being the "industry standard" and all.

I used gimp for all of 3 minutes before uninstalling it.

Although reading the gimp code might be interesting.

When I first started gfx I used it and it is great for newbs BUT photoshop is way better. The fact that photoshop always recovers from freezing and that gimp freezes ALOT is just a bonus in itself. Photoshop is a way more powerful program and I highly recommend it over GIMP. Hope this helps :)

have never used it, and i wont ever use it. im sticking with my lil PS

lol anyway, GIMP has filters and brushes and all that, its just that they are not as good, GIMP is inferior to Photoshop.

i used it for a short period a year or so and thought it suited my needs fine even tho it didnt give me many of the more powerful options that I'ves since found PS offers.

For anyone starting out and car'nt afford PS, lol, then the gimp is a good alternative open source program, and best of all its Free!
