Well, all my parts arrived and I was able to assemble them with hardly any trouble at all. I'm in the process of trying to install the OS now. What I need to know is... if it's possible to install the OS from an ISO CD I got from the MS Academic Alliance. FREE Win XP Pro for students in the IT field. How sweet is that?

Anyhow, I appreciate the help. ;)

Just burn the ISO into a blank disk and run that on bootup. Dont forget you may need to set the CD-ROM to a higher boot priority than the HDD in the BIOS :)

The iso is already on a cd. Does it have to burnt in a specific format... it says invalid boot disk. Also, I already the cd-rom is the highest boot priority.

open the ISO with Roxio or Nero, it will then burn the image to a CD that is bootable. The ISO is only an image of the original, and not useable until it has been burned.

It should work if it's already burnt...I've never had this problem, I'll look around for an answer.

Chill out guys. There is a difference between writing the .ISO file onto the CD-R as data - That will not work if you try booting from it.

An ISO file, as you know, is the image of a disk which has all the data of the files along with the filestructure. For that to work, you will need to effectively extract the data from the ISO and burn that onto the CD-R. This can get complicated, so I'd recommend a program such as Alcohol 120% for burning the image.

You can download a free trial (which allows you to burn images - just click "Image Burning Wizard" on the left) from HERE.

    Good luck :)

hm..i think u need to boot up from the CD - I assume the ISO is already burnt onto the CD so if u go into ur BIOS menu and find the first bootup device select CDROM

Restart the comp and let it go thru until it asks you to press a button and there u hav it :D i think that might be it ;)

dang need to make a tut on all this got all the info :D

My info :D on how to format
