His lyrics were brilliant, but I actually think MC Ren was a better rapper than him.

Eazy E started gangster rap, thats for sure... but I gotta say, his rhymes are pretty weak.

He was illiterate so don't expect much from him. He was okay on a few songs but he has the rhymes of a 6 year old.

I think Public Enemy were equally as influencial as NWA, but whenever I listened to PE they sounded a bit...flat. I bought It takes a nation of millions to hold us back and loved it though. I also recently got the 10th anniversary tribute to Straight Outta Compton, no where near as good as the original. Which in my opinion says that rap back in the early 90's late 80's is better than it is now. But many modern artists are very good, Dre is as good as ever. Eminem I really don't like, 50 cent has grown on me and Snoop is brilliant.

I think Eminem has recently become pop, a few years back when he did songs like What's The Difference he was rap, now all his songs seem bent on humour, take Ass Like That for an example. Eazy E was funny but in a different way.

because rap is getting all about guns, shooting and stuff and his songs don't base on that, it's based on humor which is not pop

It's all a matter of opinion, I can see that Eminem has skill, I just personally dislike his voice among other things.

I'll give Eazy E the benefit of the doubt and say that up until that point, a GOOD majority of rapping was incredibly simple and, well, wack by today's standards. But, still, to say he was a good rapper or lyricist is kinda out there...
