I need to know if all of this stuff is compatible and if anything isn't id you could tell me a part that is. Also if there is a part that you know has not worked for you in the past please state so. Thanks man thats not too bad I would love to keep my board the thing I though wasn't compatible was the RAM and the mobo. However 2.66 ghz is still a fast processor. Reall I am building this comp to last me a while and still be a very powerfull beast machine Thanks for you help if anyone would like to double check that would be good too. However one question the specs are the same however that CPU is celeron-d compared to my pentium 4 which is better and does it matter than much
also mobo and ram not compatible, get this RAM to keep mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145440 Celeron cpus are pretty good, only thing youd have to change your board if you want a P4.. If it were me, I would rather get AMD, that'll last you a long time...

the ram your are getting onl works with newer P4s and PDs. If I were you, I would get a Pentium D if I was going the Intel route as they are dual core and not much more expensive. Their clock speed is a bit lower, but the potential performance and stability they give over a P4 at their clock is a lto higher. a Pentium D is essentiall two laptop pentium 4s combined together if you didn't know. socket 775 pentium D, it is dual core AND 64biy compatable meaning it will be up with technology for a bit. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819116213 as for the mobo... probabl something liek this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813121296 FYI, I am not very familiar with intel processors.
Okay first $200+ for a CPU is a bit over my price range, I would need it too be 150 MAX which is even too high I'm trying to keep the whole system under $600. I am using this to play some games which require a good comp such as HL2, CS:S and Battle Field 2. The comp that I'm upgrading from is a COMPAQ Presario from like 3-5 years ago. I really figured I needed a new comp when I couldn't play CS 1.6 with a ping lowever than 100. Also with only 33 gig on you HD it is not enough and I constently have to think about when I'm going to have no roon left. (Currently I have only 3 gig left) Anyway Thats what I'm upgrading from a big POS, Thanks for all your help by the way guys.
2 things here - 1. Get AMD instead of Intel, in recent tests in a magazine i read called APC it showed AMD outperformed Intel in EVERY department and overall they are also cheaper. 2. Don't get an ASUS motherboard as the current generation is poor.
Okay if anyone could help me find a powerful AMD CPUE under 150 and a good mother board under 130 that are both compatible that would be awesome, one requirement with the motherboard it must have at least 4 gig of ram avalible
***UPDATED*** with all the stuff you guys told me too increased the price too 650 but I can live with that. Ummmm I think this stuff is all compatible you can check just to make sure. Ummm I am wondering about a few things. They are the CPU has 64 bit support and HT Support as well, the ht can go up to 1 ghz and, however the overal speed of it is only 1.8 ghz so is that good or what because I thought the higher that speed of the processor is the better it is so tell me if the CPU is good. Next I have been warned against ASUS Motherboards, are they realiable and will they work. Finally I have a friend with that Graphics Card and he says it works great with HL2, CS:S and BF2, the reviews say it too. However I would like to get your take on the grahpics card as well. That's their dual core series, AMDs single core procs are best for gaming and graphics. I use an AMD proc, and am quite happy with it. Only reason I mentioned a PD was because he originally wanted a P4 system. Also, ownage, get a GFX card that has SLi support for your mobo if you are going to go that direction ever. If not then you're fine. Also ownage. The more GHZ the better for a procesor model, but AMD Athlons have a better core architecture than Intel's Pentiums, They get higher performance per clock and also, an Athlon 64 performs 12 computations per second while Intels only performs 6, though the 6 is doubled on mathematical computations(meaning you can run MS excel a bit faster but not much else) think of it this way, Athlons are like a strong heart, they pump out fewer clocks for the same result, Pentium 4s and Celeron Ds are like a weak heart, they put out less performance per pump and require more energy. Also, HT on Athlons stands for hyper transport, not hyper threading, it helps with multi tasking, but doesn't logically divide the HD.
I'm going to check those out as we speak. Umm yeah I was looking at the GFX cards with SLI support however the cheapest one is like 160 bucks and thats not in my price range. If you can find one with sli support Open GL 2.0 dircet x 9 support 356 meg memory and 256 bit support that is cheaper than 160 please tell me. lol That CPU is the one I already had picked out. However the motherboard that you picked out is better than my current one and will work with my RAM. Now the only thing left is I need a fairly cheap GFX card that is POWERFULL but not more than 140 and than is even too high. BTW I'm using that motherboard UPDATED
