SLi enabled and a simple Wolfsdale 8600 Processor and 6 Gb of RAM on Windows 7. It mows down a lot of modern games pretty easily. WoW will run smoothly maxed out on the 8800GTs.

If you want to go a little bit modern, I hear the GTX 480 is really, really well made, but they are a bit pricey. If you're an AMD guy, go with a ATI 5650 HD.
Though it's possible that in order to get the most out of your 5650, you'll have to spend a some extra money upgrading your system.

    is this really 2017?
That advice makes me think 2011ish.

in 2017 you'd probably want to look at something like a GTX 1050Ti or a used GTX 970 if you're trying to game. ATi (err AMD) cards are also solid BUT their prices tend to be inflated as they making great scientific computing (err mining) cards and those are in high demand.

This is likely accurate enough of a guide for how things compare performance wise. Basically winnow things down to the highest bracket that fits your budget/use-case.

    Ryzen, 64gb RAM, GTX 1060, 1TB m.2 drive, 3x4k monitors (no I don't game on them simultaneously)

and if you count it as part of my system, 4x8TB HDDs in RAID 10 on a NAS for bulk storage.

    Laptop is a KBL i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB m.2 SSD.

    typo, I meant RAID 10.

I'm not dumb enough to have 4 drives in RAID0, hahaha.

As a rule of thumb I try to NOT to place personal photos online anymore (I've worked enough with "big data" to see where the future is headed and I'm of the belief that less is more) so I'll email you.
