Well it's a bullying marketing tactic on apple's part. They make people feel inferior by integrating their products into culture as a status symbol. They make their customers feel superior and their customers tease others with their products and degrade non-apple customers.

Don't believe me? Go to an Apple store and make a phone call on a non-iPhone device. I'd be interested to hear about your experience.

Apple makes products that sell themselves. Their marketing follows suit. The reason they have become part of modern culture is purely because they're viewed as both tools and accessories.

And I'll think you'll find it's the other way around. I've lost track of the amount of people who have told me I only bought a MacBook Pro because I want to be cool, and given me shit about it. The reality of it is, is that Apple is the result of a free-market. They have time and time again provided the first, and best products to emerging markets.

They were the first company to offer a computer that not only looked good, but was very user friendly and intuitive. They opened up personal computing to a whole new market of inexperienced users. They were the first company to offer a pocket sized MP3 player, which was very easy to use, and had decent memory space and especially, it looked great. A whole new demographic of people opened up, and it really changed the way we see music. And Apple stayed ahead of the curve with each subsequent MP3 player it released.

While I agree, there is a level of fanboyism that I hate, such as camping for days to get an iPhone at launch, but this is a very small amount of people, and it's no different from people spending $6000 on a PC, or making stupid anti-Apple pictures or threads.

Don't come at me in that patronizing way, telling me I've been subverted or manipulated. I know more than most about computers, marketing, industrial design and consumer culture, and I'm telling you now, the iPhone sits at the head of a very, VERY large niche market, to which there is no alternative, competitive product. I'm not saying it's better or worse than HTC, or iPhone OS is better than Android. Maybe they suit what you want better than an iPhone, but please, sir, PLEASE, don't sit there telling everyone how stupid they are for not wanting the same things from their Phones as you.

FYI, show me another product with a large, multitouch IPS 720p 960x640px screen, 32gig of flash memory, a 720p 30fps video camera, in such a thin, beautiful, solidly built product. I have yet to see anything similar, at anything like a similar price (or any price afaik).

Put it on a carrier that actually has service.

    Done deal.

A phone can only be as solid as the carrier that backs it, and AT&T is horrible.

When I had my iPhone I enjoyed it, it was a solid phone... a little overpriced and too much of a niche market, but still a solid phone. I didn't quite get that feeling with a BB because the BB is geared more towards professional individuals than personalized comfort. I like the droid because it's on a carrier that frankly doesn't suck in terms of service and it does what I need it to above the extent that I need it.

Check those numbers n say that again...There are STILL people camping out in front Apple stores drooling over a PHONE.

Anywho...Similar devices? Samsung Captivate, HTC Droid Incredible, and Droid X all drown the iPhone in it's own piss spec wise.

As for beautiful...if you mean the dropped call screen...yeah, it looks great. Or is it the scratched surface? no...it must be the finger prints and smudges all over the screen.

And god forbid you want buttons...one of the many OPTIONs the iPhone doesn't offer. It doesn't offer any options at all. Android devices are fully customizable.

And you have been manipulated. You bought a piece of junk that is in no way innovative or worth its hefty price tag.

And the $6000 PC...that's an investment. Over time, $100 here and there will keep it up to date with the parts you WANT for years if not forever. Shell out $6000 on a mac pro...a YEAR goes by and it's time to throw it in the trash and get a new one.

I've used both iPhones and Android based phones, including the EVO that everyone raves about..

Honestly speaking though. The iPhone gets great service in the tri-state area and I've never really gotten a crappy signal. The 3G service rarely, and I literally mean rarely, ever goes down to where you have to use crappy GSM.

As far as the interfaces go.. certain phones run the Android OS pretty shitty. Some of the sprint phones are laggy and slow, the EVO is pretty fast and responsive, but it can't even start to compare to the responsiveness and ease of the iPhone.

This is just my opinion anyways.. But there would have never been Android without there having been an iPhone, and it still has a long way to go before it could even compare to apples phone.

Carriers aren't really an issue here in NZ. We really only have two of them, and they're both pretty bad.

Yeah, the carrier is the biggest choice for me in my area, then what phones they offer become a subject of discussion. In terms of everything I've seen from the west coast (out to Utah basically) is Verizon >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> AT&T (even having worked for AT&T in the past). For signal, signal strength, customer service, deals, etc. I've always found Verizon to be more suited to my needs, so I have to use phones they offer.

Honestly, if the iPhone was brought to Verizon I probably wouldn't have any issues using it, but I doubt I'd buy it over other phones available for equal or lesser cost.

What was it you did when you worked for AT&T?

I had a droid and I didn't like it at all. I now own an Iphone 4 and love it. I'm not one to bash anything or anyone. If you love a product, great, I just know I love my current phone.

iphones beat anything on the market to me, in terms of UI. Thats just me though, some could like the droid. I have one currently cause we switched from at&t's shitty service, the iphone just has a better feel to it, the touch screen doesn't feel so clunky, more like your moving stuff around the air, its beautiful lol.

Edit: Supposedly there is going to be a Verizon iphone in 2011. But who knows.
iphone with great service, will be a gift from god and apple will probably start to concur the world haha

That's a pretty baseless claim, tbh.
