i think if the goal from england did count it would be an whole different match. because now they were 2-1 behind and they had to attack which had a negative effect on their defense. leaving open alot of space for Germany to play in. if it was 2-2 they could have played more defensively. which wouldnt lead to 2 more goals.
Mans got it right.. the goal would have made a huge difference. Not making excuses because im english.. i think capello picked completely the wrong team. Great young players were completely left out. Ashley young, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Theo Walcott. People who were picked and didnt play like Michael Carrick. This 442 formation has never ever worked for us and wasnt suddenly going to change now that we have capello. If it were up to me i would have played a 433 formation with young and walcott either side of rooney up top. Carrick i would play holding insted of shitty gareth barry. At least then the side would have some pace to defend/cause attacking problems. Team needs a complete rework. Also, look at dawsons season.. then look at upson. Why did upson play? his defending was so poor. I'd rather play the tottenham man, and thats coming from an Arsenal supporter.

Could have indeed been a different game if they pulled up to 2-2. They did seem rather pathetic against the Germans, but if they would have managed to pull aside to them, they could have possible found some renewed energy to turn it into an entirely different game.

it would be a big difference.. if england had scored the 2-2.. they could go for counter play. no they had to go for attack and it broke up the defense. You can say it wouldnt be a different game if the goal counted.
QFT Also England wasnt playing up to par the whole tournament it was only a matter of time that they would get eliminated.
