What amazes me is the loudness and the degree on that GPU. 87 degree at load. That GPU sure wont last long.
nVidia's drivers have really been awful lately too. My buddy's 8800GT just crapped out on him. Tried baking it, but it's still not working. I agree, it's not gunna last very long at all. Might as well just go with ATI on this one, regardless of legitimate PhysX or not.
I think we all know that nvidia kinda of stopped caring about the gaming market. nvidia's focus is on embedded/mobile and General Purpose computing the 480 isn't practical or profitable to make for gaming systems, and scaled down versions won't be much better. It is incredible for massively parallel computing applications. It doesn't make sense to sell this chip for $200 to a company to make a graphics card when it costs $190 to make(there's also research and overhead to cover) it makes perfect sense to sell one to a company for $3000 for use in a super computer cluster.
EVGA GeForce GTX470 1G is coming. Link centralcomputers.com/commerce/catalog/product.jsp?product_id=74678
Of course it will, 2 gpus are better then one And quite obviously, the cards were designed to take that heat, so they wont be in any danger running at that temp (My 295 runs at about 80* load, but its a dual pcb)
I got both ATIs and Geforces. I have 18 Units that have GeForce 9500, and been running for a year and have no problems or whatsoever regarding the product. For ATI, well, I don't know...I used them and they're good...not as sharp and clear when it comes to graphics. Just make sure you have an aircon to keep these babies cool at all times. Video Cards works harder if the game's graphics is just too demanding. :3
