Got it yesterday and finally just found the time to play a few hours on it. Mmmmmmm, sexytime sure does this describe this one. Lovely graphics and amazing story/gameplay. Sure, the general line of working (all powers - loose powers - need to gain powers again) is the same as in 1&2 but who cares. Don't mess with a winning team they always say and this game sure does proove it. They've further perfected their gameplay and added some little tweaks that were needed, in consideration with 1&2 (like moving objects around faster, turning objects around ...) Anyone else got it?
I bought it the day it came out (well pre-ordered it 5 months ago). Played it and beat the game on Hard Mode or w/e the hardest mode was called. Gotta say when you choose hard it is freaking hard. I died over 200 times mostly during the fights where you have to fight the taurens or that Ram/Lion/Snake guy..yes I don't remember names but still ..if there was a Top Ten # of deaths I'd win automatically! Overall my thoughts are the actual CG work is Very Well Done (probably medium rare). The graphics were different than what I actually thought it might be. Like when you play Darksiders or Infamous or Assasins Creed, you do get all the glitter and shine, but in GOW III the gameplay with the control character Kratos just looks almost real. He has got to be the best in-game character ever created in a Video Game who does nothing but kick ass no matter who he is up against... The Story was good but I didn't like the ending. I know he had to release it but still...Though I'm pretty sure what I heard in the interviews over at E3 and others that the next GOW somewhere around 2013 or 14 after 3 years of a rest will pick up where Kratos left off, as usual, and it might introduce in a new character or something different other than the Mythical Storyline that Kratos has done in the past 3 games. Now with Zeus gone I would love to see Kratos go up against Athena once again and maybe take on God himself...which would be a huge step from the original Storyline.. Another thing that bummed me was they kept saying in the End there will only be Chaos, and I hoped that they would actually Make Chaos into a man or human form to show to the GOW Universe, which *spoiler* did not happen. Overall I loved the game, even though there were a little bit of glitches here and there, and me dying over 200 or 300 times on Hard Mode, loved every bit of it, playing through it again on Easy mode to get rest of the trophies. It will be a good ride all over again. It was kind of sad to see that every site out there gave it a 9.0 which is solid enough. I know it is not that great of a game since all you do is X X X O O O T T T and sometimes Square Square Square...the game with the storyline of killing gods is much more of a fun than pressing the damn buttons. Last thing I would like to say is that the new Weapons the Hades Blades and the ones you get from Hephaestus were a bit too similar to the original blades, still the Gautlets did all the job ...made my life easier. Next time try to have ALL DIFFERENT WEAPONS...yes! oh and don't go too much on colour. Kratos does good alright with the Red and White crap...Purple and Greenish colours killed it .. Nevertheless, thanks once again Santa Monica for a Great and almost Perfect Game (you're getting there) ! Prince.
I just got to the part where I get the Helios power, so haven't played that much really. I do agree with the Hades blades being pretty similar to the Exile blades, although you can summon monsters with it (and the fact that it's just cool ) And completely agree that things look mighty realistic while playing. The camera is also often position during play that I kinda have this filmic feel all the time. And of course the addition that Kratos actually gets covered in blood while fighting is cool
is it worth it? just with the single player? don't preach to me about going back for collectibles plz.
GOW doesn't work with collectables and stuff like that. It's just pure, non-stop action. And yes, for me it's worth it. Simply for the fact that I have played and enjoyed the first two and I want to complete the story. Some people condemn this game as a button basher, which is how you could play it if you take the easy mode. But once you take it up a few notches, you're bound to need to learn some combos and stuff, or you won't survive long. Singe player of 1 en 2 took about 7 hours I think, dunno about this one. Hopefully a tiny bit longer of course, but these days many games don't have such a long life span anymore. But in terms of what gets done within the timespan, this baby really comes through for me
lol FU Ravr-! SP i'm pickin up my copy of GOW3 when i get some cash flow haha til then i'm stuck playing SOCOM and the old god of wars
Pete, look at it this way, if you have a Playstation III, then I would suggest you get this game right away, or asap you get some cash flow coming in. Not saying that this is the Greatest Game ever made, but mostly due to the fact that the graphics in this game (playing on my 60"+ Plasma in 1080i HD) are ridiculously good. Even when you are running around or doing combos, the armor on your right arm is always glowing and has that glitter effect that gold usually has when it gets struck with light. Apart from that the entire game (in game play mode and cinematics mode) is all but the Game Play. Meaning there aren't any special CG work involved in the making of the Cut Scenes as in some Games where the Cut-Scenes are the best out of the entire game. This is one good thing that caught my attention and wanted me to actually play and play this game. Apart from the graphics, the storyline, if you have played the first two, flows pretty smoothly. The ending is what bugged me the most but from what I've heard about GOW IV coming out in the next 3 or 4 years after a 2 year break from the game, should pick up where it left off and they might add a new playable character apart from Bloodthirsty Kratos. As Sanity said it, GOW is not about collectibles, it is all non-stop blood gore action. True there are collectibles in the game like Hercules Armor, or Zeus' Eagle, etc. but you shouldn't worry about those if you are playing the game for the first time. When I played the game for the first time on Hard Mode (since my bro wanted to go all out), I didn't care about all the collectibles, yes I knew they were there and they could be used once the game is beaten, but I didn't care. I beat the game on Hard Mode, now restarted on Easy Mode to get the trophies (40% done), and the collectibles to use them throughout the mode. ... The sad part is there is nothing after the game. It is just one stretch of complete 8 hour game play on easy mode and add an extra 2 - 3 hours for Hard and Ultra Hard Mode...
I just beat it, and all in all... it was a good experience. The gameplay was phenomenal, with some of the most responsive and fluid combat I've ever played. Nothing is more satisfying than taking out waves of enemies with the Blades of Exile and summoning souls to help. The story was a bit too much for my taste... but I don't play God of War games for story.
lmao oh there's so much more to a ps3 than just gow3 though. the fact that you can be owned in online play against me is one of the awesome qualities :]
My best girl friend bought a PS3 just for GOW III. She loves the game, and while I was at playing the game I gave her some of my own PS3 games and she loves them. There is a lot more than just GOW III on PS3. There is Final Fantasy VIII (sadly it is on 360 as well), Dark Siders, Metal Gear Solid, GTA IV, etc etc. Plus more exclusive titles.
