Yeah, I think sigs are a thing of the past. I haven't designed anything in ages...I just keep recycling old stuff (wearing old stuff...)

Yeah, kinda true with the "anyone can do it" thought now. Seems like design has become a lost art. You're either an amateur or a legit professional.

I think you should be a little more specific. Design as a whole has hardly become a lost art, signatures are essentially just one very small sub section.

It's been two years since my last sig.. And most of the people in the sig-making scene a few years back may have grown out of forums. I know I did... I rarely post in forums anymore....

I think he was getting at more of the user content rather than the provided content.

I don't do GFX for money or anything. I really do it for fun. And I don't care if no one else does it or not. When I do an even decent sig I feel at least a little bit accomplished just because I know I can do something most of my friends and family can't do. It will probably help me in life along the road.

think im the very few who got a job based on web / graphic designing since i left GR lol .. job title developer wohay! thats why i have been missing on GR but tbh sigs were a thing of the past but it shows one identity.

its so easy to make a forum these days .. download illegally .. get members .. theres 1000s of amateur ones and i have to agree with the original poster! same goes for photoshop. download and play around and people get rated .. P.R.O!! (think that word is in the filter still i remember it being in the filter on the ip board LOL .. remember many techniques got bought up .. the blur/smudge was a popular one lol :D tbh if you show these to job prospectors or clients you would get shot at lmao! so i was busy making up my own portfolio.

people should explore things outside sigs .. i am a 3D maniac because i specialise in 3D rendering/animations. however got other creative qualities. GO BIG & EXPLORE!! .. people follow tutorials .. i say sod tuts and do anything. thats how you learn. i aint sure whats new these days i just got back to the forum scene. revisiting tbh =]

Some parts offtopic i know just motivating ;)

i agree darkstar :] i mean this was definitely the site to be at 4 or so years ago when we had tons and tons of members on now a days but now people want their own forums and like you said can download them very quickly and illegally. So, they have no use to come back to this one. I started out on this forum then stopped cuz i got busy with school and whatnot :P i used to be in BC when they had it and it was fun to have a group of people to compare work with and whatnot but idk haha. I still make sigs once a week/month just to brush up and have fun. It's just a hobby i think for people now and not a lot of the old sig makers are makin sigs...(off topic though i did see x'ed was back and i'm pumped to see stuff coming from him) but yeah..oh well. :]
