Blackscreen at startup!

I am getting a blackscreen when I start my Acer laptop. The button that indicates that the computer is on, is lighted.
This seems like a hopeless problem, I'm desperate :/ any help out there?

Do you have a spare monitor available? (VGA is common, some DVI or HDMI)

Try to connect another monitor to your laptop, it might be your videocard or the cable to your screen. That is the way to find out.
