You're definitely getting better in terms of blending, however the background still stands out too much and takes away from your focal. Also, a light source is not present which should be somewhere to the upper left of his face as a 100-300 pixel white brush. If you need any help with this, just hit me up at one of my contacts.

Seems a wee-bit messy to me; Try something simple and see how you fair. Its not all about effects and being crazy. If you can pull off something simple and still make people say good then you can truly begin learning.
