Last night at around 10:00pm, I was driving out to a friends house on a dark country road. All of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the deer run in front of my car. I hit the deer with the front end of my car at around 60 mph, and don't remember too much after that. I still can't remember pulling my car off to the side of the road, turning everything off, and turning on my hazard lights. Right before I climbed out, I do remember realizing that my driver side, and passenger side airbags had both deployed perfectly. But here's the catch.....

This morning, I went to the tow company to see the damage to my car, and my car is still almost in perfect condition, except for the hood having a nice dent in it. Most the of the damage to my car was caused by the airbags. They not only destroyed my front windshield, but also ruined my dashboard, and made a huge mess out of my steering wheel. Also, the fragments of broken glass all over the inside of my car will take forever to get cleaned out. Here is a rough estimate of what my car will cost me....

    Front windshield....$200.00 us
    Front hood..........$500.00 us
    Towing...............$115.00 us

    Replacing those stupid airbags........$1500.00 us

Are they really made to save lives? Or designed by auto glass companies to make money? Or maybe by the makers of medical gauze to cover all of the scrapes on my forearms from the airbags deploying at an explosive rate? Go figure. I'm going to go watch the movie Bambi right now, and laugh when Bambi's dad gets shot in the beginning.......... <_<

Damn deer -_-. At least the outside of the car isn't too too bad. Seeing how I live right next to a forest/bayou there are a TON of deer where I live, and they go out into the road too damn much. About 4 or 5 months ago my friend's dad's car got totaled because a ------ing deer decided it would be funny to jump into the path of a moving vehicle.

Ya, the airbags to get them replaced, and set back up in working order are $1500.00 us. Not to mention, the damage caused to the steering wheel cover which ripped out to let the airbags deploy. The damage caused to my dashboard, which broke loose to let my airbags deploy. There is about another $800.00 us right there. The dashboard airbag cover that I mentioned is what blew upwards and back, which blew my windshield out of the front of the car.....another $200.00. So this, including the actual damage caused by the stupid deer comes to roughly $4000.00. I firmly believe that airbags save lives, but the firing mechanism for most airbags has the impact .psi set so low, that a nice firm kick to the center of your front bumper is enough to cause massive interior damage to your car. I just think that they need to think these things through in order to make airbags not only safe, but alot more cost effective as far as the average consumer goes. My airbags shouldn't have deployed in this type of minor accident.

Dude, thats messed up. It doesn't make much sense; Hit a deer, and the damage was from the thing that was supposed to help.

I tell you whats better; Hitting one in a ------. Its like running over frog, don't feel a thing.
