i wouldnt mind having one. Ive heard about the Perpendicular Recording from my teacher and wanted to know how it worked because he couldnt really explain it all that well that article cleared it up some.

so you can store a lot more in the same amount of area, up to tenfold I've heard.
I have a PRM drive(seagate 7200.10) and it's fairly good nice speed very quiet while idle, but It's somewhat noisy while seeking.

its not new, it was announce a month or so ago.
Edit: Thought you meant the PRM Ram they are developing heh.

I read abot this, that Dell/Alienware were putting 1TB drives in their ultra high end machines. At first I though it was just 2 500GB drives, but then I read the full story.

well i'm sure it won't just be them.
in terms of capacity, it's just a gimmick - and to me 2*500 is better than 1*1TB due to the performance increase and the flexibility. Not to mention that it's cheaper.
