Hi all, I'm going to get a new pc soon, but I have a question. Should I get a CrossFire mobo, or should I go for one which has SLI support? Both ATi & nVidia's card are great, but any reasons why I should (not) go for CF/SLI ?
if you plan on using linux, opt towards nvidia, if you are opting towards overclocking mroeso go with ATI. as for crossfire vs. SLi, I think cross fire is better as you can use todays card in tandem to next years card and aren't limited to the same GPU.
Crossfire > SLI However, I dont see a reason for either, unless you got multimonitors, a single card should be sufficient.
Well, I thought, if I buy a GTX now, for a high price, then I can later, just put another card in it, which is much cheaper then. However, I still think I'd go for SLI. A second card (i.e.: the 7800gt) gives 70% more fps when you have them in sli. And no, im not planning to use windows. And yes, Im a gamer
why not buy an X1800XT(only 350$ soon to be 300 even), and then upgrade with crossfire to the x2800 AND the x1800 in a year or two? FYI now is the worst time to buy a new mid/high end card as the 7900GTX is coming out pretty damn soon... when itt does... prices will plumet. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814161171
Hmm sounds cool, but don't you need 2 exactly the same cards for CF/SLI ? + It's hard to get in my suddaroundings an ATI mobo/card,,, (in my local store it costs € 549,00 for an x1800. Which is really expensive. I got a budget around 1250.. Btw. what mobo would you suggest?
