If you want to save yourself a whole lot of hassle with setting up dual boots try WUBI, alows you to install 4 "flavors" of ubuntu like you would any other windows application clicky oh and game support is pretty good if you can work with wine =)
a 6200 is plenty to run beryl, maybe nto with insane AA and AF, but in general it's sufficient. and remember with everything YMMV, Ubuntu may be right for you, it may not be, don't feel restricted - SUSE, DEBIAN, FEDORA, MANDRIVA and others are all good choices.
