    Custom's the way to go.

I basically re-did my entire computer in July '03 for approx. $700. And that was with high-quality stuff at the time.

yep, custom build, just make sure you get everything you need, and if you can salvage parts from your old rig!

I would have to agree, cheapest parts out there are from eBay. You can get nearly brand new GFX Cards for a fraction of their original 'buy new' price.

thats not under 600 dollars

but i dont think u would want to buy anything under 1000 for a gaming pc not unless u find something good on ebay,u need to put at least 2k-3k in ur pc, 3k being the max

Nah, my comp's awesome for gaming and it cost only $700-$800. It is getting a bit out-dated right now, but I can run all games at maximum settings with barely any lag.

...I've tried to run so many programs to see how long it took to crash this thing, and, well, my plan didn't work :D

custom built is the way to go as long as u have a monitor, keyboard/mouse you can have a computer that runs d3/hl2 for under 600.

600 bucks! That is really cheap...I don't think there is any quality gaming rig that cheap...I mean an AMD 64 or Pentium 4 + A video Card probly would cost 600...Good Luck though
