Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.

I found this in a fitness forum.

A guy, 22, wants to have sex with a girl who's 16. I'm the dad of a 1 year old daughter. I am worried about her enough as it is, but I cant think of how much I'd worry about this if this was my daughter. I'm angry about this guy doing this, am I right to be angry? What would you do if your daughter was in this situation?

While it is sad that this is occuring, blame goes all three ways; the girls, the older guys, and the parents. The parents are stressing it more and more as if taboo, which doesn't always help. I mean, does an irresponsible teen ask her parents before she can drink? Rarely. The older guys have priority issues if they go around thinking it's OK for them to date 16 year olds. Next thing you know, dating pre-pube girls will be allowed. Finally, the girls of my generation think the mature deal only works for guys that are so much older. If they are dumb enough to not be reasonable and ignore their parents, so let them. It sucks, but I am a believer of self-reliances.

On the other hand, havent there been cases where girls that are raised in sexually abusive families have often associated plain attraction and care as justification for sex? Just my perspective of where this nation has gone.

My friend, she's 18, and she and a guy whose 29 are pretty much inlove with eachother and have intercourse lots of times. She's old enough to make her own decisions if she wants to ------ it up, let her.

If the girl, at the age of 16, can't make decisions for her own well-being, then she deserves everything she gets.

As a father, you'll have to eventually accept that your own daughter will have a mind of her own, and may or may-not do things you like. I wouldn't be angry at anyone. 16 years of experience is old enough to know when you are making a foolish decision.

Now playing Devils advocate. 6 years at that age difference is a rather large difference. However my aunt and uncle are 55 and 48. And really, the maturity difference between a 16 year old girl and a 22 year old guy isn't that much of a difference.

It's sad to know that the dude has to date teenagers. xD As for the girl, I don't really care what idiots want to do with their lives.

If it truly happened as he said it, then it's her fault.

Thats not really something upsetting. If she was underage then maybe yeh but only by law.

---- i know so many girls under 15 that not only enjoy sex but get more than the average 20 year old.

16-22 years is nothing. My parents have 9 years between em.

Get over it and mind ur own business.

hmm I've seen the exact same post (the op) on quite a few other forums..

Anyway 6 years of age difference isn't that much, but if I had a daughter I don't think I will be ok with her dating an older guy at 16.

I think thats a little ILLEGAL

there is a difference between a 18 and 29 year old having sex, and a 16 and 22 year old.

It is waaaaaaay illegal and the man can be sent to jail for statutory rape.

If the legal age of consent there is 16 theres a reason. In my eyes if you're 16 you're old enough to make decisions like that for yourself, even if you parents are upset by it.
