    Hmm?
I am looking to start playing Electric Guitar, but I don't want to do lessons. I want to teach myself. I have an electric and can play very basic things, nothing great though. I am more musically able than the average person, and I've played the drums for years. So anyone here who plays got any tips? The thought of holding the chords or w/e seems daunting. I see people who switch between cords so quick but how? It takes me ages trying to find the right place to put my fingers. (Don't turn that into a dirty joke. lol) So can those with experience give me all the good beginner tips you got that will help me in learning to play guitar! Thanks :D

why the ---- dont you want to get lessons? They will make you improve a lot quicker. Holding the chords, you just have to get used to where to out your hands. And your hands will get stronger, helpin you holding them etc.
I still dnt know why u dont want lessons, www.just----inggoogleit.com

I don't want lessons, because i've spent hundreds of pounds on drum lessons and now I don't play anymore, bit fo a waste. So I'm not going to spend hundreds on guitar lessons, because it won't last forever..

Either way, he doesnt seem to want lessons, and I personally know plenty of very good guitarists who havnt taken lessons and play extrememly well.

Trick when switching chords is to keep as many fingers down on the fretboard as possible.

i didnt take lessons either just a guitar class at school, and all it taught me was stuff i already knew.

Chords, lets see, well basically if you just play them over and over again speeding up gradually you will get better with them

    plus, use tabs ;)

    Ultimateguitartabs.com etc.

the good ones like taborama and mxtabs arent allowed anymore

Uhm... just practice... I learned drums by playing at a local church and I dident know ANYTHING. All I knew was just hittin the snare when the people clap and hitting the bass drum 1/2 time with the snare. LMAO

Then I got better and start doing 4/4 Beat and then 4/8 and getting faster to 16's and I do excellent fills and everything.

So yeah bro, I might tackle the guitar next or the piano. Depends on what these guys think.

    Tabit.net

People tab songs then submit them, it also has some lessons on it. It costs like 20 bucks but its worth it over just websites because it plays the song how you are supposed to do it.

I just practiced on songs i liked until I got good enough to do other bands i like.

Ive been playing for about 2 years now.

Face it dude, you need to get lessons, you dont get anywhere when your sitting there looking at tabs saying, "WTF are these numbers?!" Lessons help so much.

But for now, id download powertab, www.powertab.com
and you can get tabs from ulitmate guitar.

Work on scales, and get your fingers moving up and down the fretboard.

BTW, i hate chords, i never play them.
